When we think of the founding of Czechoslovakia, Masaryk, Beneš, Štefánik and 28 October 1918 come to mind. But what story emerges when, alongside political negotiations, we begin to trace personal contacts, shared ideals and the world of Masonic lodges?
Bohuslav Větrovský invites you to a seminar on the influence of Freemasons on the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic.
We will follow the path towards an independent state and explore connections that can easily escape attention in the usual accounts of its founding.
How does Alfons Mucha enter this story? What did Masonic symbols and objects mean? And why is distinguishing between English and French Freemasonry important for understanding the subject?
An invitation to everyone interested in history and the questions behind its familiar dates. Join Bohuslav Větrovský to look at the founding of the republic from another perspective.
Admission: CZK 250. Starts at 17:00 and ends no later than 20:00.
Reservations are required; places are limited.
