Taraxacum officinale, or dandelion, with its beautiful yellow flower, resembles the sun. It is one of the amazing herbs whose flower, stem, leaf, and root all have medicinal effects.

Uses of Taraxacum officinale

People have always made honey from its flower, while the stem helps to reduce sugar levels in people suffering from diabetes and the leaf radically detoxifies our body. The root is a true treasure growing anywhere – in meadows or on roadsides. Our ancestors used it to treat digestion, liver, for blood purification, and to treat multiple myeloma, which is a cancer of the blood, causing the bones to ache and break.

Its root is excellent in the treatment of lifestyle diseases. Researchers have found that the root can kill cancer cells without damaging healthy ones.

Now you may be wondering how the root can be used to help. It can be made into a tea, tincture, or consumed fresh, where its effect is strongest. You can chew it like tobacco or suck it. Yes, it is very bitter but effective. Our grandmothers used it as tea together with garden marigold and nettle. They sweetened the tea with honey to caress the soul and sooth the stomach and remove other digestive problems.
